Polywrap is a shortened version of the term polywrapping. Quite common items to be included in a polywrap pack include printed catalogues, leaflets, flyers and business reply envelopes. We can also include pens, CDs and DVDs into your Polywrap pack.
Polywrap is used for a number of reasons, however it has to be said that a key driver is the price as it is a very cost effective solution for price conscious marketers. At the moment in the UK the price of polywrap film is much cheaper than envelopes by as much as 50% which makes using this type finish a very attractive proposition for direct marketers.
In addition to this polywrapping catalogues into clear film is a great way of making a feature of the printed design on the item enclosed. Quite often when we polywrap catalogues for our mail order clients they will carefully specify the order in which items are polywrapped to show of their catalogue cover or campaign image. When using 100% clear polywrap film it is possible to feature images, covers etc on both the front and reverse of the pack. This is an excellent way to ensure a brand is profiled and continues to be highly visible.
Another key advantage we offer all of our clients who use polywrap to fulfil their mailing campaigns is that we can address the mailing packs at the same time as enclosing them. This basically reduces the number of processes and therefore the overall mailing fulfilment costs are lowered. Using the latest inkjet technology we can actually address mailing packs in a number of ways. These include applying the address to the outside of the finished pack or straight on to specific inserts within the pack. As well as cutting down on the number of processes the cost of addressing with our inkjet lines compared to using an off line laser printer is a lot lower. That said the quality of the addressing is quite basic compared to laser printing but does make the item deliverable by the Royal Mail. The reason for this is quite simply because when you address inline the inkjet is squirted on to the pack as it moves.
Other Polywrap options include the use of printed film. Using your artwork our team can source 2 and 4 colour printed film for your mailing. You can also use film on one side of the pack only if required.
Film is printed using either a process called flexography. This involves the use of a flexible printing plate mounted on a printing cylinder. The system is an up to date version of the old rotary letterpress process. Flexography can be used for printing on any kind of flexible substrate such as polythene, polypropylene, PET and nylon films, making it ideal for producing high quality printed messages on your mailing products.
